The next municipal election will be held Monday, October 26, 2026. The last municipal election was held on October 24, 2022. Where the polling day falls on a holiday, polling day shall be the next succeeding day that is not a holiday.
Elections for municipal government are held every four years on the fourth Monday of October. Prior to the the passage of the Good Government Act, 2009 and the vote in 2006, the period between elections had been 3 years. For example, 2000, 2003 and 2006 were municipal election years.
The Legislative Assembly of Ontario legislation (Bill 81, Schedule H), passed in 2006, set the length of terms in office for all municipal elected officials at four years.

✅Who Can Run for Office?
You can run for municipal office if you meet all of the following criteria on the day you file your nomination:
- You are a resident of the municipality, or you own or rent property there (or are the spouse of someone who does)
- You are a Canadian citizen
- You are at least 18 years old
- You are not otherwise disqualified from holding municipal office under any legislation
Nomination will be received for the offices of:
Mayor - 1 position at large
Councillors - 4 positions at large

Nomination Period
- May 1 – Nomination period opens
- August 21 – Nomination Day (by 2:00 p.m.)
- August 24 (by 4:00 p.m.) – Certification of nomination papers
- Acclamations, if any, declared after 4:00 p.m.
Electors’ List
- August 1 – September 1 – Preliminary List of Electors (PLE) received from the Elections Ontario (Exact date to be agreed upon by the Clerk and Elections Ontario)
- September 1 – October 26 – Period for revisions to the voters’ list
Voting Period
- 10:00 AM, October 14 – 8:00 PM, October 26 – Internet and Telephone Voting open
- October 26 – Election Day
After the Election
November 15 – New term of Council begins

Voting Method
The Township of Strong will be using internet and telephone voting only.
Voting is available during the designated election period which starts on Wednesday, October 14 at 10:00 AM and ends on Monday, October 26 at 8:00 PM.
Voter Information Letter (VIL)
Eligible electors will receive a Voter Information Letter (VIL) by mail. The VIL includes instructions on how to vote by internet or telephone.
