COUNCIL MEETING – DECEMBER 19TH 2006

Held at the Township office at 5:30 pm

Staff:                       David Pringle, Road Superintendant;  Marty Elik, Roads Dept.

Guests:                   Wayne Rodgers and Steven Rodgers re:  damage to light and sign post during snow plowing

 

There were no pecuniary interests on the agenda material.

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby adopt the minutes of meetings as circulated:

 

Vi Montpetit - Merlyn Snow

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby amend Resolution #2 of the Inaugural meeting December 12th 2006 as follows:

Sundridge Strong Fire Dept – Vi Montpetit and Scott McLaren with Chris Ellis as Alternate                               Carried

 

Council reviewed the plans for the New Equipment storage building  with a section to store 1000 yards of sand/salt and the Road Superintendant will now have an Engineer prepare the appropriate drawings.  The letter from Mr. Steggles was reviewed by council and an Engineer will be engaged to review the overall drainage of Pool Lake into Lake Bernard to see if there is any further solution to the flooding problems of Pool Lake.

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby agree that the Township of Strong will remain the lead municipality for Central Almaguin Economic Development Assoc. and that Lorrie Wren act as Secretary – Treasurer for CAEDA.            Carried

 

Vi Montpetit - Merlyn Snow

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby agree that the Township of Strong will approve a donation of $500 for Central Almaguin Economic Development Assoc.           Carried

 

Letter written re:  Beaver problems; Letter received re:  Tendering issue at DSSAB – rep to come to next meeting; Spring Meeting being set up with MNR re:  Lake Levels of Lake Bernard/Pool Lake.  MTO ensure roads will be paved with Hot Mix Asphalt and that the shoulder width is at 2m for the south section of Muskoka Rd and 1 m for the North section of Muskoka Rd and Valleyview Rd.  MNR have indicated that Lake Bernard is at capacity and that MOE will be asked to model the impact of development of the existing vacant lots on Pool Lake as it flows into Lake Bernard and the vacant lots on Lake Bernard as well.  The North Bay Health Unit has sent the 2007 Levy $35,710.79 and the 2006 Levy was $34,482.  Letter of comment re: Potholes on the Machar Strong Boundary Rd; Norm Miller re:  New regulations for Aggregate Resources Act; Letter of thanks from Helen Smith for resolving flooding issues on Malyon Dr.  Report from BLEO re:  Parking issue at 1 Main St. Sundridge. Letter from MPAC re:  Explaining Property Assessment information Session for new council members.

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby agree to accept into the Road System Part 1 of the survey dated Nov.22.06 being the allowance for Cottrell Rd at Con 9 Pt. Lot 12                                            Carried

 

Vi Montpetit - Merlyn Snow

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby adjourn at 7:50 pm to meet again on January 9th 2007 at 5:30 pm  Carried.
