COUNCIL MEETING – SEPTEMBER 12TH 2006

Held at the Township office at 5:30 pm

Be it resolved that this council does hereby adopt the following minutes as circulated:

Be it resolved that this council does hereby declare the following road equipment to be surplus:  Attachments for #8: Sander, Dump Box, Green Water Tank;  The V plows.                                Carried

Be it resolved that this council does hereby approve payment of the following accounts:  Municipal $53.669.50; Roads 42,743.13;  Payroll $41,037.02; Signcraft – High Rock brochure $57.00;  Sundridge Strong Joly Arena $16,387.50; McLaren Builders $26,483.04                                                                         Carried

Be it resolved that this council does hereby approve the Minutes of Settlement as follows:  6-01-01 $75 to $62; 3-01402 $234 to 205                                                                                                           Carried

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby authorize attendance at the Parry Sound Municipal Assoc. meeting on Oct 2nd at 9 am at the Bobby Orr Community Centre in Parry Sound at $20 per person for:  John Newstead, Sally Harper, Stephen Rawn, Chris Ellis, Diana Georgie and Sharon Sohm                                        Carried

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby approve compensation to Frances Howe for a wolf kill of a male goat in the amount of $130 and that the Clerk is hereby authorized to apply to the Ministry of Agriculture & Food for reimbursement.  CD

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby approve the proposed severance on Hwy #124 to split an 8.83 acre parcel with 4 acres on one lot and 4.83 acres on the other lot with the usual conditions of draft approval.                             Carried

 

Chris Ellis – John Newstead

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby state that “our First Priority” for the Township of Strong, Canada-Ontario Municipal Rural Infrastructure Fund – Intake Three Application – is for resurfacing the major roads in the Township of Strong.  Council is making application for resurfacing our roads with Crushed Granite, Calcium and extra Grading.  The preparation of these roads will be completed under our regular maintenance program to include Ditching and Changing Culverts in preparation of resurfacing the road with Granite.  The budget set aside by council is $100,000 for our portion of the total costs for the project.          Carried

 

John Newstead – Sally Harper

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby authorize the Treasurer to make application under the Joint Emergency Preparedness Program – Fiscal year 2007/8 – On – 40 for a Generator for the Sundridge Strong Joly Arena and Hall as this building is used as the reception and/or evacuation centre under our Emergency Plans.  The Township of Strong agrees that it will be responsible for 50% share of the municipal portion of the costs of the Generator.              Carried

 

Tri council meeting will be held in Sundridge on September 19th at 7 pm – items to be added to the agenda:  Arena; Kent’s Mill Bridge;  Donation to the Cemeteries:  Strong & Pevensey.

Armour invitation to 125th Anniversary;  Funding for rural community improvements. Muskoka Health care activates stroke protocol;  POA Sept. meeting;
