INAUGURAL COUNCIL MEETING

DECEMBER 9^TH 2003 – 5:30 PM

Attending: Mayor Stephen R. Rawn

Council: Scott McLaren; Shawn Eddison; Christine Ellis; Sally Harper

Guests: Steve May – Clergy; Gord Harper; Rob Learn – Press

The meeting was called to order at 5:35 pm

Each member of Council read and signed the Mandatory Oath and Oath of Allegiance that was witnessed by the Clerk

Each member of Council read and signed the Township of Strong Oath that was witnessed by the Clerk

The swearing in ceremony concluded with a blessing from clergyman, Steve May

Mayor Rawn gave opening remarks to his new council and then the appointments to various committees/boards were made.

Be it resolved that this council does hereby change the Title for HEAD OF COUNCIL TO MAYOR effective December 1^st 2003. Carried

Scott McLaren – Sally Harper

Be it resolved that this council does hereby confirm appointments to the following Committees/Boards

· Almaguin Highlands Information Centre – Member Sally Harper - Alternate Scott McLaren

· Almaguin Recycling Initiatives - Member Shawn Eddison - Alternate Scott McLaren

· Blue Sky Committee - Member Stephen R. Rawn

· Central Almaguin Planning Board - Member Stephen R. Rawn

Be it resolved that this council does hereby authorize attendance for 4 council members to attend the Councillor Seminar on Saturday January 24/04 at Barrie and hereby approve payment of the fee of $199 for each member Carried

Be it resolved that this council does hereby adjourn the inaugural meeting at 6:30 pm to meet again at 7:00 pm for the Regular Council meeting Carried
