The Township of Strong held their regular meeting on January 26, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. in the municipal office. Members present were: Mayor Steve Rawn, Councillors Vi Montpetit, John Newstead and Merlyn Snow. Chris Ellis was absent.
Guests:
Mike Piraino attended the meeting to discuss a Permit Agreement between Mike Piraino and the Township of Strong for temporary storage of a building on his lot. A resolution was passed.
Brian Loxton from Community Telecom to discuss phone services in the municipal offices. A resolution was passed.
Discussion items:
-Council remuneration statement was discussed It has been clarified that Christine Ellis 2009 council remuneration should read: $11,088.00 and not as previously indicated.
-Concern regarding blasting that is occurring all night long By-law Enforcement Officer to look into
-Building Renovation update was provided to council with their input requested.
-Concern with individuals at the landfill site who are scavenging a letter will be sent.
-Review of Parks project to confirm playground equipment to be purchased.

Be it resolved that the Council for the
Township of Strong agree to extend the Permit Agreement between the Township of
Strong and Michael Piraino to January 31, 2011 provided there are no complaints
received by adjoining property owners and a snow fence is put around the cement
block footing. Carried

That the Council for the Township of Strong
hereby accept the Accounts Payable as presented up to and including January 26,
2010 in the amount of $ 165,140.95 and hereby authorize the Clerk/Treasurer to
issue cheques for same. Carried

Vi Montpetit Merlyn Snow:
That the Council for the Township of Strong have read and approve By-Law 2010-008 being a by-law to provide for an Interim Levy and the payment of Interim Taxes for 2010 having read the by-law the required readings;
And that Council for the Township of Strong
hereby authorize the Clerk and the Mayor to sign this by-law and affix the seal
of the Corporation thereto. Carried

Newstead:
That the Council for the Township of Strong have read and approve By-law No. 2010-009 being a by-law to Stop up and Close and Convey to Adjoining Owners of Part of the Original Shore Road Allowance fronting their property known as Con. 4, Lot 22 Township of Strong more particularly described as Part 1 on a Plan of Survey 42R18951 having read the by-law the required readings.
And that the Council for the Township of
Strong hereby authorize the Mayor and Clerk to sign this by-law and affix the
Seal of the Corporation thereto. Carried

hereby approve sending 2 people to attend the Intensive Minute Taking
seminar in Parry Sound on March 24, 2010 at a cost of $ 285.60 each. Carried

That the Council for the Township of Strong
make a donation in the amount of $ 100.00 to the Haiti Relief fund through
the AMO. Carried

That the Council for the Township of Strong approve in principle the application to purchase the original 66 foot lakeshore road allowance or any portion thereof presented by Robert DeCaire and Donald Folliott at PCL 6613 s/s Pt. Lot 18, Con. 7 Lot 32846 Strong Township High Rock Road P.I.N. 52075-0122(all of) .
And hereby advising that this lot will not
be able to have Building Permit issued as it does not meet the Township
requirements. Carried

That the Council for the Township of Strong authorize Mike Basso and
Tera Kincaid to attend the Health and Safety for Supervisors and Mangers
Seminar in Powassan on February 1st and 2nd, 2010 at a
cost of $300.00. Carried

D. Newstead:
That the Council for the Township of Strong
hereby authorizes the Corporation of the Village of South River to make
application for funding on behalf of the five municipalities who own the South
River Sundridge District Airport to FedNor and NOHFC for the Airports Land
Development plan. Carried

Vi Montpetit Merlyn Snow:
That the Council for the Township of Strong
hereby approve the Taxi Service License application for the year 2010 as presented by Peggy
Haggart o/a Call Me A Cab taxi provided
the license fee of $ 120.00 is paid in full . Carried

Be it resolved that the Township of Strong accepts Quote 2661 at a cost of $1812.85 including taxes as presented by Community Telecom to terminate, test and label the Ca5e data cables and set up distribution centre
And accept Quote 2663 to upgrade the EOC at
a cost of $ 6630.61 including taxes. Carried

That we abolish the $100.00 encroachment
fee being paid on Part Lot 17, Con 2, Part 1 yearly. Carried
