The regular meeting of the Township of Strong Council was held on June 22, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. in Council chambers.  All members of council were present.

 

Guests: 

Mr.  & Mrs.  G. Mitchell attended the council meeting to discuss a shore road closure.  They provided council with photographs and expressed  concerns they had.

 

Discussion items included: 

-Council discussed amending the landfill rates and a by-law will be prepared for the next meeting. 

-Council discussed amending the rates for other services provided and a by-law will be prepared for the next meeting.

-Council will look into creating a brush pile at the landfill site.

-Participation in the Canada Day Parade was discussed

-Summer Student at the Landfill site to attend the Property Owner’s Meeting

 

The following resolutions were passed:

2010-0117 Vi Montpetit – Chris Ellis:

Therefore Be It Resolved that the Township of Strong does hereby adopt the Minutes of June 8, 2010 and June 14, 2010 meetings as circulated and amend Resolution 2010-0119 of June 14, 2010  Recreation Budget to read “ Township of Strong share being $ 5392.50”                   Carried

 

2010-0118 Merlyn Snow – J. D. Newstead:

Therefore Be It Resolved that the Township of Strong does hereby accept the Accounts Payable as presented up to and including June 22, 2010 in the amount of $ 312,729.99  and hereby authorize the Deputy Treasurer to issue cheques for same.                    Carried

 

2010-0119 Chris Ellis – Merlyn Snow:

Therefore Be It Resolved that the Township of Strong have read and approve By-Law 2010-020 being a by-law to set tax ratios for Municipal purposes for the Year 2010 having read the by-law the required readings.

 And hereby authorize the Mayor and the Clerk to sign this by-law and affix the Seal of the Corporation thereto.                                                                                              Carried

 

2010-0120 J. D. Newstead – Chris Ellis:

Therefore Be It Resolved that the Township of Strong have read and approve By-Law 2010-021 being a by-law to provide for a 2010 Final Tax Levy for all classes and Adoption of the 2010 Estimates Year 2010 having read the by-law the required readings

And hereby authorize the Mayor and the Clerk to sign this by-law and affix the Seal of the Corporation thereto.                                                                               Carried

 

2010-0121 Chris Ellis – J. D. Newstead:

Therefore Be It Resolved that the Township of Strong that as per By-law 2004 – 1492 –Procurement by-law and By-Law 2007-1555 as amended, Part XIV Surplus and Obsolete Goods;

Council for the Township of Strong shall declare the following as surplus equipment:

 2 stationary compactors with 3 -40’ receiver boxes;

And that Council shall dispose of the equipment by negotiating the sale of the compactors at the best possible market value price.                                         Carried

 

 

2010-0122 Merlyn Snow – J. D. Newstead:

Therefore Be It Resolved that the Township of Strong that as per By-law 2005-1516 –being a by-law to establish procedures for the sale of Real Property ;

Council for the Township of Strong shall declare the following property as surplus

Property located on Cheryl Crescent – 264-59 fr x 169.99 depth and 1.02 acres in size and is a level lot.  Con 10, Pt. Lot 27, Block A Plan M201, Parcel # 18481;                           Carried

 

2010-0123 Vi Montpetit – Chris Ellis

Therefore Be It Resolved that the Township of Strong have read and approve the Township of Strong Elections Policies and Procedures Manual as presented;                                                                           Carried

 

 

2010-0124 J. D. Newstead- Merlyn Snow:

Therefore Be It Resolved that the Township of Strong Support the Joint Application to the Continuous Improvement Fund for completion of the Waste Recycling Strategy in cooperation with the Municipality of Magnetawan up to a total of $ 5,000.00 per each municipality.                  Carried

 

2010-0125 Vi Montpetit – Chris Ellis:                     

Therefore Be It Resolved that the Township of Strong have read By-law 2010-022 being a by-law to stop up and close and convey to adjoining owners part of the original shore road allowance fronting their property having read the by-law the required readings;

And that Council hereby authorizes the Mayor and the Clerk to sign this by-law and affix the Seal of the Corporation thereto.                                                                               Carried

 

2010-0126 Vi Montpetit – Chris Ellis:

Therefore Be It Resolved that the Township of Strong does hereby adjourn at 8:15 p.m. until the next regular meeting of Council on July 13, 2010.

 

The above Minutes will not be adopted by Council until the next regular meeting of Council scheduled for July 13, 2010 at 5:30 p.m.
