The regular meeting of the Township of Strong Council was held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday August 24, 2010 in Council Chambers.

Members present were:  Mayor Stephen Rawn, Councillors, Christine Ellis, Vi Montpetit, John Newstead and Merlyn Snow.

Delegations to see Council were:

Elgin Schneider – Bill deVries- Village of Sundridge to discuss access to the sewage lagoons.

 

Antal Gazsi to discuss the purchase of the unopened road allowance through his property.

 

The following resolutions were passed:

2010-0164 J. D. Newstead – Merlyn Snow:

Therefore Be It Resolved that the Township of Strong adopt the Minutes of the August 10, 2010 and August 17, 2010 meeting as circulated.                                                    Carried

 

2010-0165 Vi Montpetit – Christine Ellis:

Therefore Be It Resolved that the Township of Strong accept the Accounts Payable up to and including August 24, 2010 in the amount of $51015.64 and hereby authorize the Clerk/Treasurer to issue cheques for same.                                                                 Carried

 

2010-0166 Christine Ellis  - Vi Montpetit:

Therefore be it resolved that the Township of Strong approve the application to purchase the  shore road allowance in front of Plan M41, Lot 10, :Layolomi Road  (Fiss) in principle.                        Carried

 

2010-0167 J. D. Newstead – Merlyn Snow:

Therefore be it resolved that the Township of Strong approve the following members of council and staff attend the District of Parry Sound Municipal Association Meeting on October 1, 2020  in Trout Creek:

2010-0168 – Vi Montpetit  Merlyn Snow:

Therefore Be It Resolved that the Township of Strong Mayor Steve Rawn declared a conflict of interest regarding By-Law 2010-031 and hereby appoint Chris Ellis as Deputy Mayor to read the by-law.   Carried

 

2010-0169 Merlyn Snow – J. D. Newstead:

Therefore be it resolved that the Township of Strong have read and approve By-law 2010-031 being a by-law to Stop Up, Close and Convey to adjoining owners part of the Original road Allowance fronting their property having  read the by-law the required readings;

And that the Township of Strong Council hereby authorize the Deputy Mayor and the Clerk to Sign this by-law and affix the seal of the corporation thereto.                                                                Carried

 

2010-0170  Christine Ellis – Vi Montpetit:

Therefore be it resolved that the Township of Strong have read By-Law No. 2010-032 being a by-law to appoint Fence viewers for the Township of Strong having read the by-law the required readings;

And that the Council for the Township of Strong hereby authorize the Mayor and the Clerk to sign this by-law and affix the seal of the Corporation thereto.                                               Carried

 

2010-0171 Merlyn Snow – Christine Ellis:

Therefore be it resolved that the Township of Strong hereby rescind By-Law 2008-1581 being a by-law to appoint an auditor as the conditions of the by-law have not been met;

And that Council for the Township of Strong hereby prepare a tender package for auditing services for the year end December 31, 2010.                                                                        Carried

 

2010-0172 Christine Ellis-  J. W. Newstead:

Therefore be it resolved that the Township of Strong agrees to the hiring of a part time office worker for up to 20 hours per week as necessary if budget permits.  Wages are subject to qualifications.  Carried

 

 

2010-0173  Vi Montpetit – Christine Ellis:

Therefore be it resolved that the Township of Strong hereby adjourn at 8:00 p.m. until the next regular meeting of Council on September 14, 2010 or at the call of the Mayor.                                           Carried

 

The above minutes will not be adopted by Council until the next regular meeting scheduled for September 14, 2010 at 5:30 p.m.
