Held at the Township of Strong office at 5:30 pm

Guests: Lanny Dennis, John McBride, James Gordon, Bill Fitzgerald – Zoning to Extractive Industrial – 240 acres – with protective berms, buffer zones and open space on their property on Hwy #124 and Cottrell Rd and Adams Rd.Con 9 &10 Lot 13 & 14.

Guests: Ken Gracey and Gord Stewart, MTO Parry Sound – New Regulations to be followed.

There were no pecuniary interests declared.

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby adopt the minutes of meetings as circulated.

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby petition the MTO that High St Sign at Hwy #11 be removed and that the name be changed to “High St.W.” and that we order 2 new road signs indicating the change at $150 each. Carried

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby support the resolution from the Central Almaguin Economic Development Assoc., regarding Highway Signage Policy of the Section of Hwy #11 between Huntsville and North Bay Carried

Merlyn Snow – Vi Montpetit

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby support the proposal to establish a Working Committee comprised of Municipal Representatives from East Parry Sound municipalities; local physicians; reps from Muskoka Algonquin Heathcare Board and administration to examine alternatives for the provision of Health Care Services in the Future. Our council does hereby authorize John Newstead to serve as the municipal representative. Carried

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby not support the “Family Health Team” as proposed by the Village of Burk’s Falls and hereby request that the Township of Strong name be removed from your list of supporters. Carried

John Newstead - Merlyn Snow

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby advise the Village of Sundridge and the Township of Joly that we only hold ONE tri – council meeting per year and that it only be held for budgets each year. Other items that may come up can be handled by way of correspondence, or by resolution of council or by calling a meeting for a specific project/topic. Carried

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby support the application for funding for an Airport Manager Intern by the Village of South River on behalf of the South River – Sundridge & District Airport Committee. Carried

Merlyn Snow – Vi Montpetit

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby enact by-law #2008 – 1561 as amended that sets out the remuneration for staff and council and having read the by-law the required readings. Carried

Chris Ellis – John Newstead

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby regretfully accept the resignation as Treasurer from Sharon Sohm. The last date of employment with the Township of Strong is March 28^th 2008. Carried

The year end report from the Joint Building Committee was presented.

A letter was reviewed by council regarding damage to a vehicle during the early hours of Wed. Jan 9^th. A letter of regret will be sent to the owner.

Thank you cards were received from Almaguin Palliative Care Team and The Royal Canadian Legion Br. 467 Food Bank Co-ordinators for donations.

Council meeting nights list was sent to the Almaguin News for publishing. Myron quote was refused by council at this time for pens and Diary for 2009.

The Logging of the Township of Strong 100 acre lot will not be completed at this time. When council does decide to log the lot, all loggers will be invited to tender for the job and will include Raphael Tardiff.

An ad is to be prepared and sent to AMCTO and to the Almaguin New requesting resumes for the position of Treasurer, Deputy Clerk and Tax Collector. Replies to be reviewed by council Feb.26.08 Current Job Description and pay range will be sent to all inquiries.

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby adjourn at 10:15 pm to meet again on February 12^th 2008 at 5:30 pm or at the call of the Mayor. Carried
