COUNCIL MEETING – JULY 22ND 2008

Held at the Township office at 5:30 pm

Council:           Chris Ellis; Vi Montpetit; Merlyn Snow;                    Absent – John Newstead

Guests:            John and Nancy Maynes – Severance proposal – lot addition

 

There were no pecuniary interests declared

 

Vi Montpetit – Chris Ellis

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby approve the proposed severance requested by John and Nancy Maynes at Lot 23 Con 4 on Lake Bernard by splitting Lot 2 and adding ½ to Lot 1 and ½ to Lot 3. The shed left on Lot 1 will be dealt with by minor variance tying it to the adjoining parcel.            Carried

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby adopt the following minutes of meetings as circulated:

  • Council meeting July 8th 2008
  • SSJ Arena meeting of July 3rd 2008
  • Central Almaguin Planning Board meeting of July 16th 2008
  • Sundridge Strong Recreation meeting of July 15th 2008                    Carried

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby support the resolution circulated by the Municipality of Kincardine regarding the physician shortage in Ontario particularly in rural and northern Ontario communities.                       Carried

 

Correspondence read from MNR re:  Lake Bernard water levels; letter to Bot re:  no objection to stopping of traffic along construction route of Hwy 11 – 4 laning;  Council approved the quote from Rotomill to pulverize asphalt and surface treatment;  Letter from Tom Roe re:  problem with culvert on Malion Drive.

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby approve the following gravel purchase:  2000 tonne of 1” B Gravel @ $7 per tonne; 3000 tonne of Granular A gravel @ $9/tonne;   1000 tonne 5/8 granite @ $11 tonne.  Carried

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby approve that Trow Engineering carry out field work on the following roads:  Valleyview Rd and 2 sections of Muskoka Rd.  The work includes surveying; boreholes and environmental field reviews.  The permission is given with the provision that the roads are left in the same state as they found the roads.   Carried

 

Chris Ellis - Merlyn Snow

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby approve a donation of $500 toward a feasibility study for the new Almaguin Highlands Secondary School and is made payable to the Village of Burk’s Falls.  Carried

 

Vi Montpetit - Chris Ellis

Be it resolved that this council does hereby approve in principle the application to purchase the shore road allowance fronting the property at roll 4946 007 026 02200 and all usual procedures will be followed. Cd

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby rescind Resolution #19 dated May 27th re:  purchase of a box scraper @ $3883 + taxes and delivery charges.               Carried

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby approve the purchase of a box scraper @ $600 + taxes from Arnstein Industrial Equipment of North Bay                            Carried

Be it resolved that this Council does hereby adjourn at 6:35 pm to attend the public Zoning meeting at 7pm at the SSJ Arena.  Next regular council meeting is August 12th 2008 at 5:30pm or at the call of the Mayor.                     Carried
